Mentor Mail

Our electronic mailing list allows I-Promise mentors to exchange information and ideas, ask and answer questions, and enhance their service and support to I-Promise Scholars.

Yes

Subscribers to Mentor Mail receive all of the messages that other subscribers send and can reply to those messages or post messages of their own.  I-Promise staff will assist with moderating Mentor Mail conversations and share timely reminders, trending questions or concerns, relevant articles or other information. Though participation is voluntary, all active I-Promise mentors are encouraged to subscribe.

Mentor Mail is designed to serve as an online forum for dialogue and discussion; general program announcements will continue to be made to all mentors (including non-subscribers) via standard email platforms.

To begin receiving Mentor Mail messages, email lists@lists.illinois.edu with subject line “subscribe ipmentors”. Leave the message body blank, with the command in the subject.  If you are subscribing from a non-university email account, please also include your first and last name in the subject line (i.e. subscribe ipmentors Sarah Watson). You will receive a confirmation message once your subscription request has been approved.

In addition to sending email commands for subscribe and unsubscribe, you can also manage your subscriptions and view archived messages by logging in at https://lists.illinois.edu/lists.

From your email client or a webmail, simply send a message to ipmentors@lists.illinois.edu. Please note: your messages should be sent from the address with which you subscribed to the list, otherwise, your message might be rejected.

You may hit reply and respond to a message, the same as you would send any other email response.  Keep in mind that replies sent in this way will be received by the entire subscriber list. If you wish to response to a message privately, you must enter the sender’s information in the appropriate field in your email client rather than hitting reply and sending to ipmentors@lists.illinois.edu.

Attachments are permitted but the max message size is 10MB including message header, text, and subject line.

To leave the group, email lists@lists.illinois.edu with subject line “signoff ipmentors”. In addition to sending email commands for subscribe and unsubscribe, you can also manage your subscriptions and view archived messages by logging in at https://lists.illinois.edu/lists.
