The First-Year Mentoring Program has been suspended until Fall 2023 as we re-conceptualize and restructure the program.  Please feel free to email with any questions.

Among the variety of other academic, personal, and professional support resources offered by Illinois Promise, scholars can take part in our first-year mentoring program designed to ease their transition to campus.

The program is offered to new freshmen or transfer students and participation is voluntary.  Mentors are local volunteers who are academic professionals and graduate students, current or retired faculty, and community members.  Each year, about 1/3 of new I-Promise Scholars are matched with one of over 100 available mentors.

Specific program features include specialized Match Me meetings, Mentor Orientation with continued training throughout the year, mentor/mentee socials, Mentor Appreciation Reception, and more!
